Effortless cool

Describing itself as a big-hearted diner, Bird is a bistro and bar that combines chicken dishes in a variety of cooking styles with an all-Australian drinks list. The owners were determined to reimagine what a chicken-focused diner could be, and the interior was key to this ambition.

An eclectic material palette was chosen to create the warmth of a small venue in what is a modern and unassuming building. Once inside, patrons leave behind the outside world and comfortably sink into cushion-lined leather bench seats and dining chairs. Burnt orange dominates the interior, further adding to the warmth and sense of sanctuary.

Interior

The venue’s bar is undoubtedly its centrepiece, with the backlit perforated metal shelving wall instantly drawing the eye.

A strutted timber counter base provides textural relief from the sleek, polished concrete flooring, while terrazzo is employed as a naturally robust and beautiful anchor feature of the countertop.

The brand identity created for Bird by Hachem builds an elevated positioning for the venue. The graffiti-style graphics reflect the inner-north location of Bird and are designed to communicate energy and a dynamic vibe.

The loose font treatment of Bird’s gold typographic logo demonstrates friendliness and shows the venue doesn’t take itself too seriously.
